Russian troops in the direction of Bakhmut held about 50 thousand people. This was announced on Friday, June 30, by Serhiy Cherevaty, spokesman of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of the telethon.
He emphasized that there were no “Wagnerites” among them.
Cherevaty said that the enemy was taking a large amount of equipment in this direction.
“We are talking about more than 300 tanks, 140 multiple launch rocket systems and more than 330 artillery systems,” he said.
At the same time, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assured that the Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold the initiative in the direction of Bakhmut.
“They put pressure on the enemy’s flanks,” the spokesman said.
He added that the Russians in the past day hit Ukrainian positions with artillery and multiple rocket launch systems, and also carried out two airstrikes.
Sergei Cherevaty said that terrorist defense troops, paratroopers, and infantry units are fighting in this direction. They also attracted a combat army reserve, the so-called Bar, as well as parts of small PMC units.
It will be remembered, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that he was annoyed by external comments that the counter-offensive of Ukraine was slower than expected.
