The defense company won a contract to create a long-range electronic warfare system (LRDD) for the US Army.
The American defense company Lockheed Martin won a contract to create a prototype of a new electronic warfare system for the US Army. The latter can be used by large military units over long distances. This was reported by Defense News.
“The system will be able to identify, track and influence the enemy from a long and safe distance, which is necessary against technologically advanced armies, such as those of China and Russia,” the media noted.
The company plans to combine with this development – TLS-EAB – means to conduct electronic warfare and operations in cyberspace and thus get a profitable weapon that can be easily mastered by the military and pose little risk.
Over 21 months, Lockheed Martin will receive $37 million for prototype weapons at its facility in Syracuse, New York.
The company is already working on a more compact version of such a weapon, as well as a jamming supplier that can be equipped with aircraft.
They also added that after creating a prototype of the TLS-EAB, they will collect comments and suggestions from the military on the system, and will also work to ensure that the TLS-EAB can be easily configured to perform special tasks.
Remember, the Pentagon reported that last year the United States conducted 12 successful tests of hypersonic weapons.
