This was announced by the head of the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to PACE Maria Mezentseva. In particular, parliamentarians supported:
- peace plan of the President of Ukraine,
- continuation and strengthening of additional civil and military assistance,
- expanding the list of individuals and legal entities subject to sanctions in Russia, Belarus and third countries,
- the creation of a public register of companies and persons working in favor of Russian interests, for example, help to evade sanctions,
- recognition of PIK “Wagner” and other paramilitary formations participating in the invasion of Russia as terrorist groups,
- recognition of the regime of the Russian Federation as the next ideology of rashism,
- recognition of Russia as guilty of ecocide, which occurred due to the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in order to stop the counter-offensive of Ukraine.
PACE also recognizes Russia’s intention to blow up the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and confirms that the Russian leadership “recklessly threatens nuclear war and uses the occupation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant for blackmail.”
In addition, on June 22, the Assembly adopted an important resolution recommending the International Olympic Committee to prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, even under a neutral flag.
