Stabilization of water levels in flood areas will take place over the next four days. But the scale of the crash remains extraordinary.
In Ukraine, they will start storing water in the upper reservoirs on the Dnieper to try to reduce the scale of the disaster due to the collapse of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station of the Russians. It was reported Ukrhydroenergo on Wednesday, June 7th.
“We will collect water in the upper reservoirs to somehow reduce the scale of the disaster,” said Igor Sirota, CEO of the company.
According to him, on the morning of June 7, the peak of the water spill from the Kakhovka reservoir has passed. At the same time, the stabilization of the water level in the flood areas will take place in the next four days. In any case, the scale of the disaster remains extraordinary.
“We don’t know the full damage yet. The station, road and railway crossing have been destroyed. It is a complex hydroelectric complex that needs to be rebuilt as soon as possible after de-occupation. And we are working on options for construction of the station,” said Sirota.
This Wednesday, it was found out Ukrainergo changing the way hydroelectric power plants operate in the country. Scenarios for further balanced operation of the energy system are also being developed.
As you know, on the night of June 6, the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The destruction caused widespread flooding. About 80 settlements are under the threat of flooding, mainly in the occupied territory of the Kherson region.
