Peace negotiations are possible only after the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.

    .

This was stated on June 2 by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.

His statement came in response to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s call for a ceasefire between the warring parties.

A ceasefire without this condition would freeze the status quo and allow Russia to regroup, build up strength and resort to a new wave of aggression. Proven by the experience of 2014-2022, Oleg Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.

In a radio interview on Friday, Orban called for peace talks between Ukraine and Russia before the widely anticipated Ukrainian counter-offensive begins.

Before the Ukrainians start a counterattack, we must do everything in our power to achieve a ceasefire and start peace negotiations,” the Hungarian prime minister said.

At the same time, he called himself the only prime minister in the EU who advocates peace, and stressed that it was difficult for him.

However, according to a spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the daily Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities prove that Moscow is not considering other scenarios than to continue the war.

To alleviate the situation, we call on the head of the Hungarian government to take action. For example, condemn Russian aggression, demand that Moscow stop the war and return the Russian army to Russian territory, join international measures to isolate Russia, and not undermine unity in the EU,” Nikolenko said.

The Kremlin also said that they see no options for ending hostilities against Ukraine.

Regarding the dialogue, we have said more than once – now there is no such option. It is not visible, and there are no prerequisites,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian dictator.
