On June 2, the Defense Forces attacked objects critical for the Russian troops in the occupied territories of the Sea of Azov. At about 12:00, the Defense Forces hit the seaport of Berdyansk, which the occupiers use as a logistics hub for the delivery of ammunition and other military equipment by sea.
Judging by the footage in the video released by the Russians, it can be assumed that the missiles penetrated the enemy air defense systems and reached the port.
According to information from local residents, ambulances are sent to the port, and some Russian ships are leaving the port.
As early as May 28, there were reports of an event in the port of Berdyansk of Russian ships. In one of the videos published on social networks, a cluster of Russian military equipment guarded by the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft complex was identified at berth No. 10.
They also report a series of powerful explosions near Genichensk, Kherson region.
Most of the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian targets in the occupied territories are beyond the range of destruction of modern Western systems already familiar to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for example, HIMARS. It is likely that the Ukrainian military used the recently adopted Storm Shadow aircraft cruise missiles.
On May 27, a series of explosions sounded in the vicinity of Berdyansk, accompanied by the operation of enemy air defense systems. It is known that the blow was struck at the recreation centers in the village of Novopetrovka near Berdyansk, where the Russian invaders were located.
The recreation centers Khimik and Vesna, which are located on the coast of the Sea of Azov, suffered.
On the same day, in occupied Berdyansk, powerful explosions thundered on the territory of the Azovcable plant.
In May, the Ukrainian military destroyed a record number of Russian occupiers’ artillery – 490 artillery systems. From May 11 to May 25, analysts at The Economist found that the average number of war-related fires in Russian-controlled territories is the highest since August 2022. We are talking about about 100 fires a day.
From May 11 to May 27, according to Liveuamap, the Armed Forces of Ukraine inflicted six strikes each in occupied Lugansk, Mariupol and Berdyansk. In total, at least 25 objects were hit. Attacks on the rear of the enemy occur almost every day.
All this gives Western analysts the opportunity to believe that in this way the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing the prerequisites for launching a counteroffensive.
