Former Chairman of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev was taken into custody for two months with alternative bail in the amount of UAH 107 million. The corresponding decision was made on the evening of Thursday, May 18, by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.
During the meeting, the court decided to send Knyazev to custody for 60 days (until July 14, 2023) with the possibility of making bail in the amount of 107 million 360 thousand Hryvnias.
During the examination, the prosecution confirmed, following the results of the investigation, that the transfer of undue benefits took place in two stages – on May 3 and May 15. The acceptance of bribes was indeed recorded with the participation of the Chairman of the Court supreme
The prosecution insisted on the application of a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of making a bail of 150 million hryvnias.
At the same time, Knyazev’s defense side insisted that the suspicion was not sufficiently proven to choose a strict preventive measure.

It can be recalled that on May 15, law enforcement officers exposed the corruption scheme involving the leadership of the Supreme Court. In particular, the head of the court, Vsevolod Knyazev, was caught in a $2.7 million bribe. We are talking about money transferred from people acting on the part of businessman Konstantin Zhevago.
The next day, the Supreme Court removed Knyazev from his post. NABU expressed suspicion against him, and the High Council of Justice authorized Knyazev’s arrest.
