The peace initiative of African countries to end the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine was congratulated by the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa on May 13, during a telephone conversation, told Zelensky about his intention to visit Ukraine as part of a mission from several African states. The President welcomed the African leaders’ decision. On May 16, Presidential Speaker Serhiy Nikiforov stated this in a commentary to Ukrayinska Pravda.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to receive distinguished guests in Ukraine, listen to their proposals, talk about the Ukrainian formula for peace and invite them to join its implementation,” he said.
Recall, on May 16, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that African countries proposed a new initiative to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. The head of the Republic of South Africa noted that Egypt, South Africa, Uganda, Senegal, Zambia and Congo are ready to become mediators of the peace initiative.
