The former chairman of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, is suspected of taking a bribe of almost three million dollars.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is petitioning for the remand of former Supreme Court President Vsevolod Knyazev. This was reported by the press service of SAP.
“The head of SAPO has applied to the High Council of Justice for permission to stop the former Chief Justice, who, together with a lawyer, is suspected of receiving $ 2.7 million in improper benefits,” the report said.
The meeting is scheduled for 11:00 am May 18. The results of the consideration of the submission to the SAP are promised to be reported as well.
It will be recalled that on May 15, law enforcers exposed a corruption scheme involving the leadership of the Supreme Court. In particular, the chairman of the court, Vsevolod Knyazev, was caught with a bribe of $2.7 million. We are talking about money transferred by people acting on the part of businessman Konstantin Zhevago.
The Supreme Court removed Knyazev from his post. NABU has revealed the suspicion against him in the $2.7 million bribe case.
