The Russian Federation “suffered a geopolitical defeat”: it became dependent on China and lost access to the Baltic, the French president said.
Russia has “geopolitically lost” the war in Ukraine. Currently, the Russian Federation is becoming a vassal of China. This was said by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with the newspaper L’Opinion, published on May 14, on the eve of the visit to Paris of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in the French media.
“In fact, it (the Russian Federation – ed.) entered into a form of submission to China and lost access to the Baltic, which is very important because it prompted Sweden and Finland to decide to join NATO. It is unthinkable two years ago. . Therefore it is a geopolitical defeat,” said the French leader.
According to him, Russia “should not win this war by military means,” however, in his opinion, negotiations with the Russians are “inevitable.”
“It depends on us how to help the Ukrainians in the counter-offensive, how to prepare the issue of security guarantees in the negotiations that will inevitably take place … I have always said that in the end the European security architecture has to be completely to protect Ukraine. But it must also provide non-confrontation with Russia and restoration of a sustainable balance of power. But there are still many steps to be taken before we get there, “explained the French leader.
It will be remembered that on April 30, Vladimir Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Emmanuel Macron. The Ukrainian leader thanked his French counterpart for the comprehensive and effective support of Ukraine from Paris.
