The Russian military was involved in training in the training areas, and after the completion of the training, the Russian Federation sent them back to Russia, then they were sent to the war zone in eastern Ukraine.
The number of Russian military personnel in Belarus has decreased, now about 2,800 thousand military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation remain in the country. This was announced on Monday, May 1, on the air of the telethon by Andrey Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Service.
“Today, according to our data, 2,800,000 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces are on the territory of Belarus. They are mainly involved either in general exercises or in training, which continues in Belarus,” he said.
According to him, a few months ago there were many more Russian soldiers there.
“We are talking about 10-11 thousand Russian soldiers,” he specified.
Demchenko explained that Russia has removed trained units from the territory of Belarus to its territory for further transfer, including to the east of Ukraine.
Recall that the Ukrainian border guards routinely harass their Belarusian colleagues. So, in March, it was reported that the Ukrainians hung a model of a Russian soldier, called “Valera”, on the border with Belarus. Before that, the flag of the Belarusian opposition was raised at the border. And in February, Belarusian border guards complained about “obscene acts” from Ukrainians.
