This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Farid Safarov on the air of the United News telethon.
Any changes in tariffs during growth peaks are difficult and forced decisions. So far, the government and NEURC are working on issues in order to understand how much the tariff should be increased. But all the same, such a decision will have to be made, otherwise the energy system will not be able not only to recover, but also to prepare for the next winter, which can be much more difficult than the previous one,” Safarov said.
He also noted that assistance will be provided for vulnerable categories of the population so that they can pay for electricity.
Sources of financing may be revenues from electricity exports and financial assistance from partners, which are currently being negotiated.
The Cabinet of Ministers has postponed the increase in electricity tariffs for the population for another month – until May 31.
One of the basic options for new tariffs involves an increase in the upper tariff from UAH 1.68 to UAH 2.4 or UAH 2.8 per kWh, while at the same time it is planned to maintain the lower tariff for the population at UAH 1.44 per kWh , which is now valid for monthly consumption up to 250 kWh.
