This money is needed both to continue building and to buy the necessary resources for the winter.
At least $3.4 billion is needed to prepare Ukraine for the next heating season. Deputy Energy Minister Farid Safarov said this on the eve of the telethon.
According to him, about $1.2 billion is needed to buy some resources, and the rest – for restoration.
“First, the lines of the transmission systems, these are the lines of Ukrenergo, the lines of the electricity distribution systems, they are mainly regional energy companies, and for the restoration of capacities of generation. We are talking about thermal generation, green generation and pumped-storage and hydropower plants. It is about 2.1 billion dollars,” said Safarov.
He noted that these funds are only needed to prepare for the 2023/2024 heating season, while the total amount needed to restore the energy sector is greater.
Safarov also believes that the decision to increase electricity tariffs for the population needs to be approved, “otherwise, the energy system will not only recover, but also to prepare for the next winter, which may be more harder than before.”
Recall that this week the Cabinet of Ministers postponed the increase in electricity prices for at least another month – until the end of May. But the talks about raising electricity charges have been going on for a long time.
