A bright flash in the sky over Kiev is not related to a rocket attack or the fall of a NASA satellite. What exactly happened remains to be seen, the press service of the Kyiv city military administration said on April 20.
It was noted that the information of the city authorities about the downing of the American satellite was “preliminary” and it was made public to reassure the people of Kiev.
“The bright glow from the fall of an unknown object caused confusion and anxiety among the people of Kiev. To reassure the residents and visitors of the capital, the military administration of Kiev published information about the probable fall of the American satellite marked “preliminary information,” explained the head of KGVA, Sergey Popko.
According to him, at that time there was no data or warning about the possible entry into the Earth’s atmosphere of a large cosmic body. However, there is a warning from NASA about their space satellite falling to Earth.
“Now, after NASA’s official statement, we can provide updated information – this is not their satellite. What exactly is it – only specialists should know … This is not an attack of rockets, our air defense did not use existing weapons,” the head of the military administration added.
Also, the incident in Kyiv was commented by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat on the air of the telethon.
“The air forces did not work in this direction. They worked in the eastern direction, where ten Shahed were shot,” he said.
Ignat emphasized that the Air Force is not dealing with celestial bodies, but is focused on repelling Russian attacks. At the same time, an air raid signal was announced, as an emergency situation had arisen that needed to be addressed.
