The Russian invaders created a new group of Dnieper troops in the occupied southern region of Ukraine. This is stated in a British intelligence report published in Twitter Thursday, April 20th.

It was noted that on April 18, the Kremlin issued a statement about the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Russian-occupied south of Ukraine. The report says that the Russian President visited the Dnieper Group of Forces.

“This is one of the first mentions of the existence of the Dnieper Group of Forces. Russia uses the term “group of forces” in a special sense, indicating a large operational-target formation,” the report said.

Intelligence indicates that at the beginning of the invasion, the Russian forces were organized into groups of troops, each of which was associated with its own military district in the Russian Federation, for example, the groups of Western and Central troops .

The existence of an apparently new Dnieper Group of Forces indicates that the original organization of forces has changed, perhaps due to heavy losses.

The mission of the Dnieper Group of Forces is likely to protect the southern sector of the occupied zone, and especially the southern flank, which is currently marked by the Dnieper River, British intelligence notes.
