The head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Daniil Getmantsev, said that Ukraine will incur huge losses due to the embargo on the export of its agricultural products to neighboring EU countries.
“These two countries (Hungary, Poland – ed.), which imposed a temporary embargo on the import of a wide range of Ukrainian products, accounted for 14% of all agricultural exports in the first quarter of 2023 (including 12% for grain and oil)”, he said.
According to Getmantsev, losses in exports will be greater if other border countries join the ban, especially Romania, which in 2022 will become the second country after Poland in terms of the value of Ukrainian exports of agricultural products, including country No. of grain exports. .
“In particular, according to the results of last year, grain exports in Romania increased almost 700 times, and the country itself imported 1/7 of all grain we exported, ” he says.
Slovakia has already announced its intention to join the ban on Ukrainian grain exports. Romania and Bulgaria also signed a joint letter to the leadership of the European Union.
According to the State Customs Service, the export of agricultural products (to all countries of the world) in the first quarter of 2023 reached 6.75 billion dollars, including grains and legumes, seeds, flour (groups 10-12) – 4.05 billion. dollars oil, fat, margarine (group 15) – 1.47 billion dollars.
The export of agricultural products in Poland for this period amounted to 652 million dollars, including 423 million dollars for groups 10-12.15, in Hungary – 268 and 225 million dollars, respectively.
In the first quarter of 2023, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia accounted for 28% of all agricultural exports to Ukraine, including 27% for grain and oil.
Remember, on April 15, Warsaw approved the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products to Poland, while emphasizing that this decision does not change the country’s position in supporting Ukraine in the war in Russia.

The representative of the European Commission for Agriculture and Trade Miriam Garcia Ferrer said that the European Commission does not support the decision of member countries to introduce unilateral restrictions on the import of grain and other food products from Ukraine.
