Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silvaconfirmed this Saturday from Beijing, after his state visit to China, that “it is necessary that USA stop fomenting war” in Ukraine and “start talking about peace.”
“The US should stop encouraging war and start talking about peace. The EU needs to start talking about peace so that we can convince” the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, that “peace is in everyone’s interest,” Lula told reporters.
The president made these statements to the media after he left the Beijing hotel where he was staying and before leaving for Abu Dhabi after completing his state visit to China, which included a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Lula da SilvaThe 77-year-old, in power since Jan. 1, also asked “countries supplying weapons” to the conflict to “stop” doing so, and stressed China’s “very important” role in the search for peace.
“China plays a very important role, perhaps the most important role. Now another important role – USA”, he clarified.

The head of state once again defended his idea of creating a club of countries “ready to find a way to achieve peace,” which he has already conveyed to French and US Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden, as well as Foreign Minister Herman Olaf Scholz.
However, his thesis did not arouse excessive interest from the West.
“Only those who do not defend the war can create a commission of countries and put an end to this war,” said the leader of the Latin American left.
In his opinion, a situation has developed in which “two countries (through Russia and Ukraine) are having difficulty making decisions” and in this case “it is necessary that third countries maintaining good relations with both” establish peace. conditions.
In that sense, he indicated that Brazil and China were willing to do so, but insisted that the “good will” of all parties was important.
In a joint written statement following their bilateral meeting, Lula and Xi Jinping agreed that dialogue and negotiations are “the only possible way out of the ‘crisis’ in Ukraine.”
In the document, Brazil, which has maintained a stance of neutrality since the outbreak of the war, said it “positively perceives” China’s position on the conflict, which it considers “useful” in finding a peaceful solution.
