The president made these statements to the media after he left the Beijing hotel where he was staying and before leaving for Abu Dhabi after completing his state visit to China, which included a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

In his opinion, a situation has developed in which “two countries (through Russia and Ukraine) are having difficulty making decisions” and in this case “it is necessary that third countries maintaining good relations with both” establish peace. conditions.

In that sense, he indicated that Brazil and China were willing to do so, but insisted that the “good will” of all parties was important.

In a joint written statement following their bilateral meeting, Lula and Xi Jinping agreed that dialogue and negotiations are “the only possible way out of the ‘crisis’ in Ukraine.”

In the document, Brazil, which has maintained a stance of neutrality since the outbreak of the war, said it “positively perceives” China’s position on the conflict, which it considers “useful” in finding a peaceful solution.
