Vessels will be “prohibited from entering” an area 160 kilometers from Taiwan’s capital due to possible falling rocket debris.
China banned ships from entering an area north of Taiwan on Sunday because of possible falling rocket debris, AFP reported.
An area about 160 kilometers from Taiwan’s capital Taipei will be closed on Sunday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, the maritime security department of China’s eastern Fujian province said Thursday.
The announcement came after Taiwan’s transport ministry said on Wednesday that Beijing plans to introduce a no-fly zone in the north of the island due to “space activities”.
China initially planned a three-day shutdown but agreed after objections from Taiwanese authorities, according to the ministry.
At the same time, there is still no information about the introduction of the no-fly zone.
It can be recalled that China continued combat training around Taiwan after completing a three-day military exercise, during which it simulated missile attacks on targets on the island.
