The second major leak in days, when classified documents surfaced on social media, reportedly caused concern in the Pentagon and added chaos to a situation that has shocked the Biden administration.
It was noticed that more than 100 documents were leaked on the network. Analysts believe the scale of the leak, along with the confidentiality of the documents themselves, could cause significant damage to US national security.
Mick Mulroy, a former senior Pentagon official, said the leaked classified documents represent a significant security breach that could hamper Ukraine’s military planning.
“Since most of the photos of the documents have been published, it looks like it was a deliberate leak by someone who wanted to harm the efforts of Ukraine, the US and NATO,” he said.
At the same time, he called the published documents “the tip of the iceberg.”
According to the publication, one of the officials said that the documents probably did not come from the Ukrainian side, because they did not have access to specific plans marked by the offices of the Pentagon Joint Headquarters.
A second official said it would be possible to determine how the documents were leaked after determining which officials had access to them.
Earlier, the American edition of the New York Times reported that allegedly classified documents appeared on Twitter and Telegram with details of plans by the United States and NATO to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine ahead of the planned counteroffensive. According to the publication, the Pentagon is allegedly investigating who may be behind the “leakage” of the documents.
The Office of the President clarified that Russia is behind this “leak”, and the enemy will soon see the real plan of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield.
