The former leadership of Twitter said a year ago that the social network will not recommend in search results, on the user’s home page and in other parts of the service accounts that belong to states that restrict access to free information and conduct wars abroad. First of all, it concerns Russia.
However, tests conducted recently by journalists of The Telegraph showed that Russian government accounts appear at the top of the search results for some queries, and also appear in the offers of other accounts.
In particular, the restrictions clearly do not apply to the presidential account of Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Embassy in the UK.
Former Twitter executives told reporters that these tests confirm that the restrictions have been lifted.
They note that it is unlikely that this change happened accidentally or without the knowledge and management of the company’s personnel.
