President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a delegation of US politicians, businessmen and philanthropists led by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. This was reported by the press service of the head of state on Tuesday, April 4.
Receiving the American delegation in Kyiv, Zelensky noted the importance of such visits and meetings, which are a strong signal of support for Ukrainians in the struggle for freedom and democracy.
“I’m glad to see you and your friends here,” the president told Pompeo. “All American support means a lot to us.”
During the meeting, the head of state invited American businesses to actively invest in Ukraine, informed about opportunities for business development in the field of construction, agriculture, IT technologies, etc.
Zelensky also focused on the importance of continuing and strengthening defense assistance and the joint development of defense technologies, taking into account the experience gained by Ukraine during the war.
A number of other topical issues were also discussed, in particular, the movement of Ukraine to NATO, the importance of further strengthening the pressure of sanctions on Russia.
Last week, the media reported that Mike Pompeo might visit Ukraine. Then it was noted that such a visit would provide an opportunity for Pompeo, a potential candidate in the 2024 US presidential election, to show his support for Ukraine.
