President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a trip to the village of Yagodnoye in the Chernihiv region, commented on the information about the upcoming offensive of the Defense Forces in 2023.
The head of state asks to wait with forecasts or conclusions, so as not to help the rashists prepare for it.
As for our progress on the front, I cannot say when we will be ready for specific things. But we are preparing to be strong in battle and de-occupy our land.
It is difficult to say how and when this will be done. We cannot give terrorists from Russia an opportunity to prepare for our methods and steps for de-occupation. But we will do it, and they should know it. They have time to get out of there, otherwise we will destroy them,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by Ukrinform.
On April 3, the president visited the village of Yagodnoye in the Chernihiv region, where the Russians kept the residents in a basement for a month. On the anniversary of the liberation of the village, the president arrived and talked with the locals. Zelensky also visited the basement where the invaders kept the residents.
Approximately 400 people lived in Yagodnoye before the occupation, and almost 370 of them visited this basement,” the president comments.
A report by British analysts on April 3 stated that Russia had planned only one military operation during the invasion of Ukraine – the destruction of Ukrainian air defenses, radar stations and airfields.
The entire other plan relied on the success of non-military operations. In the first days of the war, the Russians hit air defense positions, airfields and radar stations – it was important for them to block aid to Ukraine by air. Also, the missile strikes were supposed to cause shock and fear among the population and convince them not to resist.
The West and Ukraine assumed that the Russian army would carry out a full-scale military offensive from the very beginning of the invasion – this was an erroneous prediction and a big mistake. Russia’s strategy relied almost entirely on the success of non-military operations, but this plan failed. This can be considered one of the main strategic mistakes that Putin personally made.
