Finland has completed all the domestic activities required to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Finnish President Sauli Niiniste signed the country’s NATO accession laws. Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported this on Thursday, March 23.
It is indicated that the ceremony, which took place in the presidential palace, was the completion of all the internal events necessary for Finland to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
At the same time, Finland cannot become a full member of NATO until all current members of the Alliance approve it. A setback for Turkey and Hungary.
The newspaper writes that the Turkish parliament could ratify this agreement as early as this Friday or Saturday. And the Hungarian parliament could approve Finland’s NATO membership next Monday.
Last week, Turkey reportedly resumed NATO talks with Finland and Sweden. Scandinavian countries have made some progress, Ankara said at the time.
As you know, the negotiations between the three countries were stopped in January after a Koran burning protest in Stockholm.
And last week, Turkey began ratifying Finland’s application to NATO.
