In case of refusal to pay repairs, the losses will be covered by the confiscated property.
Ukraine is now counting the losses incurred by Russia during the war. Our country will demand reparations, and if the Russian Federation refuses to pay them, compensation will be received from the arrested Russian property, said Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The official stressed that Russia is obliged to pay for all damaged property. And the International Criminal Court must assess the actions of Russia’s special services and the government. Ukraine cooperates with the court and seeks to prove the war crimes of the Russian Federation. The Verkhovna Rada has already adopted all legislative initiatives in this regard.
“Now we are waiting for the active actions of the ISS prosecutor, Mr. Khan, as well as the corresponding court decision,” Stefanchuk said.
As for repairs, losses are now calculated. After the war, Russia was issued a “general check” with a request to pay the specified amount. If he refuses, compensation will be received at the expense of the arrested property of the Russian Federation.
“We will continue to demand that the damage caused by the Russian Federation to Ukraine be compensated from this property. If a general decision of the International Criminal Court is adopted, we will no longer need the permit. The property will simply be confiscated, will be sold, and all losses in Ukraine will be covered from it “, said Stefanchuk.
Representatives of the Verkhovna Rada have already made appeals to other countries about the payment of repairs in Ukraine at the expense of the property arrested.
Recall that in some countries of the world Russia’s assets worth billions of dollars are frozen. France reached over $ 23 billion, Switzerland $ 7.5 billion, and the US over $ 300 billion. The states are already considering the possibility of transferring frozen currency to Ukraine. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, restoring the country after the war would require at least $ 600 billion.
