France and Britain intend to help Ukraine with a counteroffensive.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced this “near future” at a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in Paris. The 36th Franco-British summit is currently underway there, and the situation in Ukraine is among the main topics of the summit.
Subsequently, at a press conference, Sunak and Macron announced joint support for Ukraine in its desire to launch a major counteroffensive and return all Russian-occupied territories.
We want Ukraine to win this war. We agree to train the Ukrainian military to give Ukraine a decisive advantage on the battlefield and for Ukraine to win this war, Sunak said.
Of course, like all conflicts, this will end at the negotiating table, but the decision must be made by Ukraine. And what we need to do is put them in the best position to have these negotiations. The priority now must be to provide them with the resources, training and support they need to move forward and create an advantage on the battlefield,” he added. “Our desire in the near term is to help Ukraine endure and launch the counteroffensive it desires to wage,” Macron said. . .
The British leader also noted that the war in Ukraine will end at the negotiating table, but now is not the time for them. He added that Kyiv needed long-range weapons and additional support to establish a strong position.
In addition, it became known that France and Britain will train Ukrainian marines together.
