Background
On March 7, the SBU and UCP announced that they had discovered a traitor who was trying to recruit Mayor Ochakov.
The city is headed by Sergei Bychkov, who won the elections in 2019 and is leaving the Servant of the People. He has effectively ruled the city since 2015.
In January of this year, the head of the Nikolaev OV, Vitaly Kim, suggested that Bychkov did not appeal to society and did not report on the results of his work due to the fact that he was a “non-public person.” He told about this in a commentary to a NikVesti correspondent.
During the 11 months of the war, the elected mayor of Ochakov, Bychkov, never once publicly addressed either the society or on its behalf. He also did not voice any problems, did not report on the results of the work. Instead of the mayor, all communication between the city authorities of Ochakov and the population is carried out by his deputy, Alexei Vaskov.
I can’t answer for him, this is local government and the people elected him. But we are working with him. I have applications (for building materials – approx.) from him, which we are closing. The fact that the deputy is speaking is probably such a (silent, – approx.) person. I do not care. We will still send aid to the city and cooperate with the mayor, who is now there,” Kim commented.
Earlier it was reported that in Ochakovo, as a result of a powerful explosion, more than 5 thousand houses were damaged. The city was hit by a powerful explosion in January, leaving almost no building materials left to rebuild and repair damaged houses.
January 9 Ochakov was subjected to heavy shelling. The shelling was so strong that the residents of Nikolaev felt the blast wave. As a result of the shelling of Ochakov, about 50 objects were damaged. Reports began to come in about victims, including children. Some were hospitalized in the hospitals of Nikolaev.
