A park Shanghai Disneyland “will gradually resume character interaction in line with current trends” after China all but lifted the strict policy Zero COVIDwhich repeatedly led to the closure of the park.

Starting this Monday, “visitors can get up close and interact with their favorite characters from Disneywho are waiting for you with open arms for hugs, handshakes and photos,” the park announced today on its official Wechat social media account.

Disneyland Shanghai this decision is made “based on the success of restoring the classic Disney experience” in its “parks around the world”.

During the strict “Zero COVID” policy in Chinalasting almost three years, the park was repeatedly forced to close its doors due to various outbreaks, one of which led to the cessation of its activities for three months as part of the quarantine dictated by the authorities in the spring of 2022. .

End of COVID Zero

After almost three years of severe restrictions, which resulted in protests in different parts of the country, China began dismantling the “COVID zero” strategy at the end of 2022, and on January 8, he downgraded the disease management from category A (maximum alert level) to category B, thus effectively marking the end of this policy.

The “COVID zero” policy consisted of lockdowns wherever infections were found, surveillance of the movements of citizens, near-total border closures, and constant PCR testing of the population.

Between Dec. 8 and Feb. 9, a period spanning the lifting of strict preventive measures and the subsequent wave of infections, China officially recorded 83,150 COVID-19-related hospital deaths. (EFE)
