For the first time, the combat use of the Russian Kinzhal air-launched hypersonic missile was recorded in an attack in western Ukraine.
From the beginning of the invasion, Russian troops used between 10 and 12 hypersonic weapons to strike cities and towns in Ukraine. This was stated by Pentagon Speaker John Kirby at a briefing on Tuesday, May 10th.
At the same time, the official did not specify the dates and location of the launch, but noted that U.S. officials had observed the first known combat use of the Russian Kinzhal air-launched hypersonic missile against a building in western Ukraine.
At the same time, Kirby said he could not confirm the use of daggers in the attacks in Odessa, as reported in Kyiv.
“Obviously we’ve seen them use hypersonics and hit buildings in the past, but I don’t have anything to indicate that they were used in Odessa,” the official said.
As you know, hypersonic missiles cannot be intercepted using an air defense system.
Recall that on the night of May 9 in the Donetsk region, Russia for the first time used Soviet Kh-22 cruise missiles for strikes. The invaders fired up to six bullets.
