China has announced that it has its own proposals for a political settlement of Russia’s war in Ukraine. This was stated by the country’s leading diplomat Wang I at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.
Wang Yi also noted that China will set out its position on the settlement of the war in Ukraine in a document that will note that the territorial integrity of all countries must be respected. China is going to present the “formula of peace” on February 24, the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The proposal for a peaceful settlement of the military conflict in Ukraine will note the need to comply with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, said Wang Yi, head of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The official, who will visit Moscow next week, stressed that Beijing will “stay firmly on the side of peace and dialogue.”
Wang Yi noted that the PRC stands for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, however, in the course of the conflict settlement, the legitimate interests of all states in the field of security should be taken into account.
In connection with the announcement of the “Chinese peace plan”, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who is also participating in the Munich conference, categorically made it impossible for his country to lose territorial territory even in the name of peace.
No compromises are possible, not even for the smallest square meter,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
