“Servants of the People” registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law No. 9005 on the punishment of people’s deputies for disseminating information about plenary sessions earlier than one hour after they closed.
Deputies want to be punished for breaking news from the Verkhovna Rada.
The initiative was co-authored by more than 50 people’s deputies, headed by Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, First Vice Speaker Alexander Kornienko and Vice Speaker Elena Kondratyuk.
The initiative amends the law “On the status of a people’s deputy” and provides that during the martial law in Ukraine, a people’s deputy is prohibited from distributing information about the time, place, course and results of a parliamentary session in any way.
In fact, it is forbidden to publish information about which bills were adopted, who voted and how, who was appointed where, and so on.
We have drafted a bill for the treatment of acute incontinence syndrome among people’s deputies,” Marianna Bezuglaya, “servant of the people,” wrote on Facebook.
If a deputy violates this requirement, the Rada may deprive him of the right to participate in plenary sessions for up to five days. During these days, such a people’s deputy is not paid wages and no payments are made related to the execution of deputy powers in accordance with the law.
Also, such a deputy will be obliged to leave the plenary session if this is supported by at least 1/3 of his colleagues.
Since February 24, 2022, the meetings of the Ukrainian Parliament have been held behind closed doors. Some deputies report on the parliament’s decision on social networks. Most often, people’s deputies Oleksiy Goncharenko and Yaroslav Zheleznyak report on the decision of the Rada.
