The first deliveries of serial Ukrainian self-propelled artillery mounts (ACS) “Bogdan” are expected in the coming months.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda.
Ukrainian wheeled self-propelled guns have a NATO caliber of 155 mm.
We have a very important Ukrainian “Bogdan”. I have already signed the first contracts and they [виробники] they already promise to make the first deliveries in the coming months,” Reznikov said about the order for new Ukrainian artillery systems.
Recall that last month the Minister of Defense announced that mass production of the domestic Bogdan artillery mount had been financed. According to him, this happened in the spring of 2022.
Then Reznikov published a photo of a new chassis for Ukrainian-made serial 155 mm wheeled self-propelled guns and stressed that the Bogdan gun had been successfully tested on the battlefield.
“Bogdana” is the first self-propelled howitzer in the so-called “NATO” caliber of 155 mm, developed by specialists of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
The development of the first in Ukraine wheeled 155 mm artillery system 2S22 “Bogdan” began in 2016. The gun was mounted on a KrAZ-63221 chassis with an armored cab.
This ACS was first demonstrated in July 2018. After carrying out all the necessary state tests and accepting the “Bogdana” for service, it was expected to deploy its mass production.
At the end of January 2022, before the Russian full-scale invasion, it was reported that the Bogdan had successfully passed preliminary fire tests, firing 450 rounds at a range of 42 km. In the future, the artillery installation is used to destroy the positions of Russian infidels in Ukraine.
It was reported that she fired at the invaders who landed on Snake Island.
It was planned that the “Bogdan” would be equipped with a full digital fire control system and automatic charging.
