The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey has topped 12,800

The earthquake of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 was felt by 13 million people in ten provinces of the country.

Earthquakes in Turkey have killed more than 12,800 people, rescuers continue to clear the rubble. This was announced on February 9 by the Office for the Prevention and Elimination of Consequences of Emergency Situations (AFAD).

It is known that in ten provinces of Turkey, 12,873 people died and 62,937 were injured.

113,201 people were involved in search and rescue operations, 5,557 pieces of equipment were deployed in the disaster zone.

In addition, 20 ships of the Navy and two ships of the coast guard were allocated for the transportation of victims from the disaster zone, as well as for the delivery of rescuers and humanitarian supplies.

Recall that on February 6, two strong earthquakes occurred in southeastern Turkey.

A seven-day national mourning was declared in the country. A state of emergency was declared in ten provinces for three months.
