Russia on Thursday accused Western countries of wanting to destroy the country, comparing them to the Nazis, on the same day that the President of the European Commission arrived in Ukraine on the eve of the summit.
Russia This Thursday also marks the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, a symbol of patriotism that President Vladimir Putin championed for his offensive in Ukraine.
Upon arrival in Kyiv, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, confirmed the support of the bloc Ukraineon the eve of a summit between the warring country and the European Union (EU), which will also be attended by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
“It’s nice to be back in Kyiv for the fourth time since the Russian invasion and this time with my own crew of stewards,” he tweeted.
“We are here together to show that the EU stands firmly on the side Ukraine”, he added.
Von der Leyen traveled to the Ukrainian capital, accompanied by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, and about fifteen collaborators who met with local authorities.
A meeting of the head of the commission with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is also scheduled.

Kyiv wants to speed up its accession to the EU, but this process is long, especially because of the complex reforms that need to be carried out, and even more so in the midst of a war.
Complete the “Russian Question”.
For his part, the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, accused European countries of wanting to put an end to the “Russian question.”
Von der Leyen “stated that the result of the war must be defeat Russiamoreover, such a defeat that it cannot be removed for decades,” Lavrov said in a television interview.
“Isn’t this racism, Nazism and an attempt to solve the Russian question?” he said, echoing the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question” of the Nazi-organized Holocaust.
Russia says he wants to “denazify” Ukraineinscribed his offensive in the legacy of the Soviet victory over the Nazis in World War II.
Putin will lead the solemn ceremonies commemorating the victory of the Soviet troops in the Battle of Stalingrad on February 2, 1943, which is considered one of the bloodiest in history.
The head of Russian diplomacy reaffirmed that Western military support Ukraine implies “escalation”, especially in the case of the delivery of long-range weapons.
Kyiv requires high-precision missiles with a range of more than 100 kilometers to destroy Russian supply lines and thereby compensate for their numerical lag in troops and weapons.
preparation for the offensive
So far, Western countries have kept a low profile to avoid another Russian escalation. But recently they agreed to supply modern heavy tanks, albeit in smaller numbers than Kyiv announced.
According to many observers, Kyiv and Moscow are preparing new offensives for the end of winter and for spring.
“We do not underestimate our opponent. We see that he is preparing for the offensive very seriously,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said late Wednesday evening.
“They will try to do something around February 24th,” he continued.
In recent weeks, Russian forces have stepped up their attacks on the eastern front, especially around Bakhmut, a city that Moscow has been trying to capture for months.
“If we had electricity, everything would be easier, we could heat ourselves, cook,” Natalya Shevchenko, 75, who refuses to leave the stricken city, told AFP.
“How could I leave?” asks an old woman with no means.

Espacio Vital: Dr. José Suárez Reyes, neurologist and head of the department of neurodegenerative diseases at the National Institute of Neurological Sciences, said involuntary movements are considered rare and may be neurological in origin or secondary to another type of disease. He explained that neurological movements include tremors, dystonia (sprains), and myoclonus (hiccough-like shaking). A specialist in involuntary movements pointed out that they distinguish between a resting tremor when a person does not make any movements, and an intentional tremor when moving.
