Israel’s Ministry of Defense said the MIM-23 Hawk systems are not yet operational due to long periods of storage without proper maintenance.
The Ministry of Defense of Israel rejected the request of the administration of US President Joe Biden to send air defense systems of Ukraine MIM-23 Hawk, which were decommissioned and sent to warehouses. This was reported by Axios.
Israel’s Ministry of Defense said the MIM-23 Hawk systems are not yet operational due to long periods of storage without proper maintenance. However, Israeli officials stressed that while the launchers may be completely out of order, the hundreds of Hawk interceptor missiles stored in the country can be repaired and used.
It is noted that Israel has rejected most requests from the United States and Ukraine to provide advanced defense weapons due to fears that such a move could create tension with the Russian Federation and harm Israel’s security interests in Syria.
Recall, according to Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov, Ukraine is trying to convince Israel to change the policy of “neutrality” in relation to the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, but so far has been unsuccessful.
It was previously reported that Israel is transferring missile and drone warning technologies to Ukraine.
