In Russia, the Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has developed an “innovative catalytic censer”.
According to the developers, instead of smoke, only the aroma of incense and heat is formed in it, and it can work for a very long time, the press service of the institute reports.
Unlike traditional censers, which are kindled with hot coal, on which incense is placed, the invention of Russian scientists works on a mixture of propane-butane, a cylinder with which is inserted into the lower part of the structure. The balloon is rotated with plastic and covered with gold paint to make the whole device look harmonious.
The main device of the censer is a catalytic burner. It consists of two catalytic meshes, a fuel cell – an ejector, and a nozzle – a thin hole of about 0.18 mm.
The nozzle diameter can be adjusted to achieve the desired ratio of air volume and ensure complete combustion of the fuel, the press service of the institute notes.
This catalytic censer has already passed “pilot” tests – it is used by the priests of one of the temples in Novosibirsk.
