The meeting is a continuation of talks between China and the United States, which were launched as part of the G20 summit in Indonesia.
United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will visit China on February 5-6, where he will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang. There he will discuss several issues, including the war in Ukraine. On Monday, January 16, Politico reports.
The conversation between the ministers will be a continuation of the exchange of views that began at the G20 summit in Indonesia.
Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said Blinken would speak about Russia’s war against Ukraine during his visit to China.
According to him, the United States hopes that China will not support Moscow and will not provide assistance to the Russian Federation, including bypassing sanctions.
“Russia’s war against Ukraine was on the agenda before it started. The threat of Russian aggression was on the agenda until February 24, when Secretary of State Blinken spoke with his Chinese counterpart,” said Price.
It can be recalled that Qin Gang, a trusted aide of Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who previously served as ambassador to the United States, took over as foreign minister. Previously, he criticized US President Joe Biden’s foreign policy.
