A week before departure
List everything that is left to do and what you want to pack. Remember to take your clothes to the dry cleaners, wash and iron your favorite t-shirts. Stock up on sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and other essentials that are often more expensive locally.
If you go by car, get your car checked: tire pressure, levels, or if you don’t know anything about it, make an appointment at a garage.
Don’t forget to take care of your pets. Kennels for cats and dogs often go down a storm during the summer holidays, so it’s best to plan as early as possible.
A few days before D-Day
Make sure all bills are paid before departure. It will be a shame to be surprised by unpaid fees on the return.
If you take medication, make sure you have enough for the trip. Don’t forget to take your prescription with you in case you need to buy more.
If you are away for a long time, ask a relative or neighbor to pick up your mail, water the plants and air it out a bit.
Prepare your route if you are going by car and fill up on gas. Load the trunk, take your time. Provide water and a small snack to everyone. If you take a taxi, order in advance.
D-day
To avoid any disappointment on your return, remember to empty the trash and refrigerator, turn off sensitive appliances, turn off the water. Leave the key with a friend or someone you trust.
You can relax and enjoy your stay.
