President of the Chamber of City Transport (Mr.CTU), Ricardo Pareja, announced that on Monday, July 4, a total of 16,000 public transport vehicles in Lima and Callao will be paralyzed in protest against rising fuel prices.

In an interview program Rotary on the Air, Night Edition from PTRRicardo Pareja specified that all traditional official city vehicles will take part in the strike, which is 85%. He clarified that the remaining 15%, which corresponds to the subway and corridors, do not paralyze the activity, as they have subsidies.

No response from government

“What we couldn’t do was to operate at a loss and to keep the balance within operating costs by increasing fuel by 80%, technically a ticket if we don’t increase it by S/1.20, but increase it by, for example, 80 cents, we would have lost 40 cents, we would have had no other alternative, and it would have caused chaos that we did not want,” he added.
