President Dina Boluarte announced on Tuesday a one-day suspension of school and university classes in the Lima, Lima and Callao metropolitan area due to heavy rains in the capital. This is due to intense rains that are recorded in various parts of the country due to the passage Cyclone Yaku.
“School and university activities have been suspended for 24 hours. This suspension affects students and faculty of public and private educational institutions in Lima metropolitan, Lima region and Callao,” he said.
The head of state also indicated that the entire civil defense platform, the region and the capital of Lima, surrounding the gorges of the Rimac, Chillon and Lurin river basins, were declared on alert. Therefore, he announced that remote work is available in the public sector.
“Remote work is provided in government organizations, with the exception of the minimum staff determined by the owner of the specification. The private sector is also encouraged to implement remote work,” he added.
Dina Boluarte also noted that Sutran and the PNP will urge the public to postpone ground travel, while access to the airport will be limited in the case of flights.
“Sutran and PNP will be present at all land terminals to urge citizens to postpone travel. Access to the Jorge Chavez airport is limited, only passengers with a boarding pass can do this, ”he said.
Sedapal service guaranteed
Chania Housing Minister Pérez de Cuellar assured at a press conference that the supply of drinking water will continue as usual, but reserve wells will be activated to help the population most affected by landslides.
“The Sedapal service is guaranteed as long as the activation of the Rímac river in particular is monitored. Reserve wells and more than 450 distribution points are being activated,” he said.
