Protests in Lima: demonstrators mobilize for the second day in a row

A group of protesters from different regions of the country holds the second consecutive mobilization in the center of Lima. They gathered at the Plaza dos de Mayo and headed towards Congress; however, a new operation is being carried out by the national police to prevent their access to Abankay Avenue.

Other people who stayed overnight at the National Engineering University (UNI) also joined the mobilization to protest against the government of Dina Boluarte, who is being asked to resign.

Last night, the National Police arrested nine protesters, all men, who were taken to the district police station, where they were examined by a legal doctor after their identity was established.

According to police sources, the detainees will be transferred to the Department of Social Affairs, a division of the PPP that handles all cases of crimes against public activities, such as rioting at demonstrations.
