In an interview with the Voice of America Ukrainian service, Reznikov said that apart from the announced military aid, “some packages were announced behind closed doors,” so he was very pleased with the outcome of the meeting.
According to him, at the meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in Germany, a lot of attention was paid to “strengthening air defense.”
“We discussed the serious development of this issue not only about the Patriot, but also about other systems. We are talking about short, medium and long-term capabilities, as well as high,” said Reznikov.
“Our task is not to lose the initiative. Therefore, one of the main words was sounded today – the promptness and immediate help,” he stressed.
Reznikov also noted that Ukraine is preparing for a potential large-scale attack by Russia in the spring, and the partners know this: “We have been talking about this for a long time, and our intelligence, and analysts, and the General Staff , so we, of course, are preparing for this, we, of course, signaled it to our partners, and we are on the same page with them in the understanding of all these risks.”
He emphasized that the meeting participants agreed “to create the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the security and defense sector to continue counter-offensive operations to liberate Ukrainian territories.”
“The main goal of the members of the Ramstein Club is the full support of Ukraine until the victory. The victory of Ukraine should be clear and as soon as possible without any conditions. This is the general mood and what sounds today in hall from all participants,” said the minister.
Regarding the Leopard-2 tanks, he noted that according to the Ramstein results, “we have an optimistic victory.” The minister explained that today the meeting participants agreed that the countries that have Leopard-2 in service can start training courses for Ukrainian tank personnel.
“Of course, as long as the decision of the German side is important, and we received an understanding that there are no obstacles to the training of our crews for partner countries, to the training of our military in Leopards,” said Reznikov .
Aircraft deliveries at today’s meeting, according to the head of the Ministry of Defense, were not discussed.
Earlier, the US President said that Ukraine will receive all the aid it needs.
Recall that during the eighth meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in Germany at the American Ramstein airbase, no joint decision was made on the supply of tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
