The researchers noted that exercise at night, between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, was the most productive.

Scientists from the University of Nottingham Trent found that exercising on an empty stomach helped people burn around 70% more fat. This was reported by the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism.

Specifically, experts in the course of the study selected participants who rode an exercise bike at moderate intensity for 30 minutes, and then did the same task, but they had to ride the greatest distance for 15 minutes.

The participants did this twice on different days – once on an empty stomach and another two hours after eating. The results showed that exercising on an empty stomach increased the amount of fat burned during exercise. It increased by 70% from 4.5 to 7.7 g.

At the same time, experts noted that those who exercised on an empty stomach consumed almost 100 more calories at dinner, while calorie intake throughout the day was on average 440 kcal less.

It was previously reported that scientists found out what type and intensity of physical activity reduces the risk of cancer by a third.
