A significant part of these funds will be used to combat the consequences of the energy crisis.
The European Union will provide Moldova with 250 million euros of financial aid. This is what the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said at a press conference in Chisinau, which was broadcast by the press service of the EC on Thursday, November 10.
“I am happy to announce that we will provide an additional 200 million euros for your energy security and another 50 million euros in budget support. And we will help mobilize other international donors,” he said.
According to von der Leyen, part of the fund will be given in the form of grants, the other part in the form of loans. Moldova will receive them at the beginning of 2023.
Recall that last week Moldova for the first time in history imported natural gas by reversing the system from west to east.
It was also reported that in November, Gazprom reduced gas supplies to Moldova by 50% – up to 5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
