Against a dark background, the planet resembles a pearl with an ethereal concentric oval around it.
NASA’s James Webb Telescope captured the clearest image of Neptune’s rings in more than 30 years. The rings are shown in infrared light. Photos posted on Instagram.
The telescope captured seven of Neptune’s satellites. Triton is shown in the upper left corner. It is covered with frozen condensed nitrogen and reflects 70% of the sunlight falling on it.
“Neptune and Triton are still visible in the center of the final image, zoomed out to reveal the larger picture. Webb’s powerful infrared vision reveals many background galaxies and stars,” it said.
The other six moons can be seen as tiny dots surrounding Neptune and its rings.
“A large, eight-pointed turquoise object is Neptune’s satellite Triton in the upper left corner. Small, pearly Neptune is below and to the right of Triton. Its rings are a unique feature. Surrounding Neptune and its rings are six. more satellites like little dots “Clockwise, starting at three o’clock, these are: Despina, Proteus, Larissa, Thalassa, Naiad, Galatea. The background is dark and scattered with some distant objects,” the agency added.

It will be remembered that earlier James Webb took a picture of the Wolf-Ryet star. It is located at a distance of about 5600 light years from Earth.
