Huawei isn’t an odd name in the audio space, but it’s odd how it’s managed to make a name for itself in this complex world in such a short amount of time. His “FreeBuds” offering was preceded by good reviews, and the new line is coming to the test without pretensions, but with good performance. Should I buy Huawei FreeBuds SE? This is the opinion of NIUSGEEK.

Huawei FreeBuds SE: what you need to know
Very well taken care of aesthetics. At first glance, these TWS are very stylish. The device is elongated like a capsule, with a notification LED on the front and a USB-C port for charging.

When we open the case, we find long, rounded in-ear headphones with a dual microphone and a silicone tip. Between both charging chambers, there is a button for battery status and pairing.

Simple pairing. The equipment is compatible with “AI Life”, Huawei’s IoT management app for iOS or Android. However, “Pop-up Pair” is only reserved for Huawei devices with EMUI, so you must manually add the earbuds from the app.

From the app, you will be able to use simple functions, bearing in mind that this is not a high-end multi-sensor device. We will have the option to change the function by double-tapping each earbud. No cancellation, “Ambient Mode” or even more so DEVIALET. It is clear that they are not for this.

And how do they sound? Very well. By design, we have passive cancellation that helps the sound not escape. The bass responds well to Eric Johnson’s “Manhattan”, while we achieve a better sense of depth in complex mixes such as Steve Vai’s “Asian Sky”.

Of course, it lacks a brightness endpoint at the highest frequencies, as there is a slight offset from the 15kHz range. Not bad, but a bit lacking in gloss at the end. In “Lucha de Gigantes”, the audience’s applause can be felt from a distance, and the guitar turns out to be slightly annoying.

How about muting the microphones? Well, within expectations. Much of the ambient noise is reduced, but low frequencies are heavily sacrificed. However, it achieves the goal of providing voice presence in noisy environments. I recommend listening to the audio test at the top of the review.

permanent autonomy. These FreeBuds SE are a bit unusual, they provide up to 5.5 hours of playback, albeit without noise cancellation. We don’t have an explicit fast charging system, but we were able to fill the device with energy in just under two hours.
Huawei FreeBuds SE are they worth it?

In terms of features, sound quality, and ease of use, this is a great combination of TWS for 179 soles. At this price, we have a device with fewer features than the 4i, but with very similar quality. In addition, the design is very ergonomic and far from the traditional reeds of traditional hearing aids. If they were my first TWS, I would choose them without hesitation.
