There is a theory on the internet that the films ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’ are intertwined for a dark reason.
There are many theories about Disney movies on the internet and several of them end up connecting one feature to another. There is even one, where Peter and Ariel’s movie can take place in the same universe.
In “The Little Mermaid” (1989) we meet Ariel, her sisters and her father and learn that the protagonist lost her mother when she was still a child. But it is only in “The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Story” (2008) that we discover the reason for the death of Athena, the mermaid’s mother: she was murdered by pirates.
Still, some fans noticed that Athena had appeared before in the Disney universe. That’s because in “Peter Pan” (1953) there is a mermaid very similar to Ariel’s mother, with striking similarities.
Because of this, the theory that emerged is that the pirate ship that is seen moments before Queen Athena’s death is Captain Hook’s, since she may be in Neverland, as we saw in the animation of the boy who does not want to grow up. Thus, the villain who has a hook for a hand could be responsible for the death of Ariel’s mother.
Although there is nothing concrete to confirm the theory, only the similarities between the characters are enough for fans to believe that it is real.
