Colosal squids are the most serious types of invertebrates on the planet, but they have never been seen in a natural residence.
Researchers from the Non -Profit Institute Schmid Ocean Institute first recorded a colossal squid on a camera in the wild, reports a science alert.
In the past, this species was similar to a sea legend than the actual inhabitants of the ocean – it was known to the scientist only through fragments located in the stomachs of sperm whales, described in 1925. In 1981, Antarctica fishermen first accidentally lifted this species to the board representative. However, so far this species has never seen life in its natural habitat.
Last month, researchers began a 35-day expedition near the South-Sandwich Islands. The Subastian, the Subastian long-controlled camera, installed in the Falkor research medium (too), recorded a living individual at a depth of 600 meters near the Yuzhno-Sandwich Islands.

The video hits a young individual of a colossal squid – about 30 centimeters long. Adults in this species can reach 7 meters long and weigh over 500 kg, making it more seriously invertebrates on the planet. They also have the biggest eyes on all famous animals – both modern and none, allowing them to navigate the almost complete darkness of the sea depth.
