So far, the operation will only be examined in the USA. Community notes have been inspired by the same operation from Social Network X, Meta admitted.
Meta said that since March 18, on its social networks on Facebook, Instagram and threads, users from the USA can test a new operation of reviewing facts – community notes.
This function was promised to be added later in January – then the company closed the program for reviewing the facts of a third party and decided to allow users who were able to write down and review notes for content. The system has been replaced, as experts from professional organizations confirm the facts, as everyone, has their own bias and political views, as Meta wants the goal information for users.
In the meta, they have been inspired by the community function from the social network X and decided to use the same approach – the meta will not decide what to review or write and what not, the community writers will decide. And to prevent bias, notes will not be published if writers with different points of view do not agree with them in general. The notes assessment system is created based on an open resource algorithm from KH.
For example, the names of those who are set will not be added -they should be evaluated based on the benefit of the context they added, and not based on who wrote them. The notes will have a limit of 500 characters and should contain a link to the resource. They can be added to all types of content, except for advertising.
Initially, the function was available in 6 language-English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, French and Portuguese. The list will expand over time.
