A Falcon 9 rocket has successfully launched two European Galileo navigation satellites into orbit. This is SpaceX’s 90th launch since the beginning of the year, launch vehicle company SpaceX said.

The rocket was launched from the 40th launch complex at the US Space Force base at Cape Canaveral in Florida on September 17 at 18:50 US East Coast time. After about three and a half hours, the devices were launched into orbit.

It is noted that the two Galileo FOC satellites FM26 and FM32, located at an altitude of 23 thousand km, have joined the global orbital constellation of the European navigation system, created by the European Union and the European Space Agency (ESA) since 2016. The satellites can provide data with an accuracy of up to one meter.

The goal of the €10 billion Galileo program is to create a high-precision positioning system independent of American GPS or Russian GLONASS.

As part of the launch, the first reusable stage of the launch vehicle, used for the 22nd time, after separation, made a controlled vertical landing on the Just Read the Instructions offshore drone platform located in the Atlantic.

We remind you that the Crew Dragon spacecraft with four tourists made six orbits around the Earth at an altitude of 1400 km, which is the highest flight since the American manned lunar program. Apollo more than 50 years ago. In the following hours, the vehicle descended into an orbit of 742 km in preparation for the first spacewalk by non-professional astronauts.
