The Long March-2C and Smart Dragon-3 launch vehicles, carrying 20 satellites, entered orbit.
China made two space launches in one day. A total of 20 satellites were launched into orbit, Xinhua reported on Saturday, February 3.
First, at 7:37 am local time, a Long March-2C launch vehicle launched from the Xiechang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern Sichuan province. It launched 11 Geely-02 satellites into orbit. They belong to Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group and are designed to provide accurate navigation data to the company’s unmanned vehicles.
At 11:06 local time, the second launch took place – a Smart Dragon-3 launch vehicle with nine satellites took off from an offshore platform in the South China Sea.
Information about satellites launched into space is not provided, but it is known that one of them is the foreign experimental spacecraft NExSat-1. It was jointly created by the National Remote Sensing and Space Science Authority of Egypt and the German company Berlin Space Technologies.
Smart Dragon-3 is a solid propellant rocket with a height of 31 m, diameter of 2.7 m and a launch weight of 140 tons, developed for commercial space launches. His mission is now third.
